Truck Mounted Machine Gun

Anticipate having a large amount of unskilled people whom you need to repel, running at your compound when the SHTF (Sh!t hits the Fan, for those who aren’t familiar with this concept)?

Got about $500 to burn now; $thousands of dollars to burn on ammunition in the future?

Don’t need accuracy particularly, or have a distinct desire NOT to be able to comfortably carry your weapon in the field without a mount, weighted tripod or vehicle?

Ok, so it seems that I have bashed this item and have no interest in seeing this product do well on the larger market, but, here I am writing about it: it’s interesting; fun, cool and new.  This Spade handled AR15 retrofit will create a truck mounted machine gun (or you could mount it elsewhere on a rail or mount) a la an M60 or a “Ma Deuce”.  But what’s the practicality?

In a time where ammunition is more expensive than ever, perhaps the only way this item makes a lot of sense is if you have the money for it, and want to shoot a .22LR conversion out of it. It’s cool to be able to forget about the magazine capacity bans in place and buy as many drum mags as you want (the spade handles and mount, classify this truck mounted machine gun in a different way and therefore eschew the law of magazine capacity restrictions).  The problem is, mags themselves in high capacity are generally expensive, and filling them up is even worse, so how do you make this work for you?

Well, this is where your independently wealthy parents, or uncles or aunts (or you spouse in some cases) come into play. If you want to protect a perimeter with wanton abandonment towards accuracy and projectile to kill ratio, get started on researching this.

But still, here we are writing about this truck mounted machine gun: I guess this is where the rubber hits the road when it comes to having a bit of fun with your toys. I want to be able to just spend $65 worth of ammunition in less than 1 minute SOMETIMES!  Sometimes I just want to burn through a week’s salary on a weekend with my family making holes in old tin cans and divots in the sand they are set up in.  Sometimes I just want to unload like the military man gets to when laying down cover fire for his comrades.  Sometimes I just want to act like the druggie who was running the fastboat on the prelude to the “Apocalypse Now” Dark scene.  Sometimes I JUST WANT TO WASTE MONEY.

Well, there, NOW I said it.  I despise this thing, but I guess I can’t get it out of my head that I want to shoot one badly, I just cannot rationalize the $500 ticket price, $1k+ ammunition price and the 4 minutes that it might take me to put it on my favorite AR.  This truck mounted machine gun has managed to give me a love-hate relationship with novelty AR Accessories: I just can’t get it out of my head.

My conscience tells me: “Don’t post this, your readers won’t read, and they may even laugh at you,”; my hands cannot be stopped however, and maybe this will be what it takes to get this thing out of my mind.

So I guess the readers of this blog are my new support group to work on my love/hate affair with this novelty truck mounted machine gun, based on an AR-15.
